Square One
Consulting was founded by Mike Manes on January 1,
1993 to facilitate the massive changes that he anticipated occurring in the
Financial Services (Banking, Insurance, and Investments) and Health Care
industries. Our name results from an absolute belief that in problem solving
and ventures to capture opportunities
it's critical to start at the
beginning – at SQUARE ONE! As stated in our Mission, Square One Consulting exists to facilitate change, communications, learning, and positive results for our clients. We recognize that life is moving too fast and includes too much hassle in corporate and personal lives. Square One can't slow the pace of change but it can help you condition your organization to keep up, find ways to short cut the path to the future, and help your remove some of the hassle or learn better coping skills. Square One and Mike Manes are Resource Managers – we don’t possess all the expertise needed to solve your problems and we don’t have all the right answers. What we do have is a commitment to become an expert in YOU – to understand your problems, your wants, needs, and expectations. We can then assist you in finding and managing the Resources needed for your future. Our clients are service organizations staffed with knowledge workers. In this brave New World production depends upon focused, coordinated, and effective exchange of knowledge. The assembly line is communications. When communications fail, production stops. Building plans, models, and systems that assure effective communications and protects the “communicators” is critical to the future. Mike Manes has been described as a Cajun Philosopher. In reality he’s a man with some “brain tissue” and even more “scar tissue.” His programs, consulting, and services are all “reality based.” Mike has been in the Insurance business since 1973. His experience includes production, agency management, product design, and distribution system development. For ten years he was an instructor of Risk and Insurance at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge. He has served on Insurance Industry Panels (Task Forces) for the Insurance Commissioner, Attorney General, Governor, L.S.U. Business School, and the Louisiana House of Representatives. Mike is a prolific, nationally recognized writer and speaker on topics including: Risk and Insurance, Change Management, Change Architecture, Organizational Architecture, etc. His passion is the changing face of Health Care and Health Care Financing.
