ANALYSIS BY A DREAMER!

I’m a dreamer – I think in concept. Concrete bores me and I "gag" on details. I see every problem as an opportunity. I’m bored with today and am excited by "Vision" and the future.

Analytical types think in concrete. Concept bores them and they "gag" on Vision. They see every challenge as a task and a risk. Their concern is today and they’ll wait for tomorrow.

Today consumers "own" the marketplace. They have access to all needed information and can shop from an unlimited number of sources. Competition is intense, global and unforgiving.

The bottom line is this – bring value to the marketplace and you will survive and prosper. Fail to meet the expectations of the customer and you will be gone!

The good news is that opportunities are unlimited. The bad news is that success in capturing these opportunities is limited. To enhance your chance for success, you must analyze the opportunity and your willingness and ability to seize the moment.

These questions may provide an "enthusiasm" screen. If you can honestly answer these questions and maintain your enthusiasm, you are probably up to the task!

  1. What is the opportunity? (Define the customer’s wants and needs, the demographics, competition, technology, pricing, etc.)
  2. What is your Vision to capture this opportunity?
  3. How do prospective customers define value? (Determine their standards for excellence, pricing and speed / time.)
  4. Can your organization deliver this value / meet these standards? (Be honest – innovation requires change and most organizations are reluctant to change.)
  5. What are the specific changes needed to meet these standards?
  6. Based on specifics, are you still sure your organization can perform?
  7. If your organization can’t change, what new structure is needed?
  8. What specific results will be needed to achieve the Vision?
  9. What processes / systems assure achieving the results?
  10. What standards must be established to assure customer delight?
  11. What roles / responsibilities are needed to operate these systems?
  12. How do you train for "ability" and motivate to "willingness"?

Answer these questions honestly and act accordingly and you’ll probably be successful. Remember success can be defined as achievement of the Vision or in a decision to not pursue a Vision that can’t be achieved.

Think about it!
